My Story

Early Passion for Empowerment

From a young age, I felt a deep fire for the potential of girls and women to create change. I still remember being taunted by a teacher in fifth grade who told me I threw “like a girl.” Enraged, I shouted “Shut up!” and was promptly sent to the principal’s office. But even then, I knew this: something in me was fiercely committed to challenging injustice and standing up for the power of women.

Personal Transformation

In my early twenties, I joined the Peace Corps and moved to Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo). I arrived a small-town girl with a conventional life plan—and returned three years later completely transformed.

Living in another culture reshaped me in ways that were sometimes subtle and sometimes seismic. It challenged my assumptions, broadened my worldview, and revealed parts of myself I hadn’t yet met. That experience awakened something profound: a calling to growth and transformation—not just for myself, but for others. I didn’t yet know how, but I knew I wanted to help people awaken to the truest, most powerful version of themselves.

That calling became the golden thread throughout my career—across youth development, international nonprofits, and corporate women’s leadership programs. I thrived helping others unlock their potential and was always especially drawn to the inner dimension of leadership.

My Leadership Journey

Here’s the paradox: although I’ve devoted my life to helping women rise as leaders, I didn’t fully see myself as one for a long time.

I was almost always the trusted advisor to the leader—the “Number Two.” I was great at it: smart, strategic, loyal, hard-working. I found my lane just to the right of center stage. And for years, I told myself that’s where I could best give my gifts.

Part of that was true. But part of it was also fear.
I had absorbed a narrow view of leadership - one that seemed lonely, rigid, and disconnected. When I did step into leadership roles, I ping-ponged between trying to be liked and trying to be respected—never quite trusting that I could be both.

It took deep inner work to realize I wasn’t avoiding leadership because I lacked skill. I was avoiding it because I had inherited beliefs that didn’t align with who I am. I hadn’t yet seen a model of leadership that made space for relational, intuitive, purpose-driven power.

The Turning Point

Everything began to shift when I took Dr. Claire Zammit’s Feminine Power course and was invited to see myself differently—as someone with a unique voice and contribution that mattered. That cracked something open.

I began to understand that there is another paradigm of leadership. One that is collaborative, relational, and values wholeness over perfection. I saw that leadership doesn’t mean having all the answers. It means being courageous enough to lead from curiosity, to welcome growth, and to rise with others—not above them.

I began to recognize that my deepest leadership gift was helping women redefine leadership for themselves and lead from a place of deep alignment.

Founding One Million Suns

In 2013, I founded One Million Suns, a coaching and training company devoted to helping women release inner limitations and reclaim leadership on their own terms.

I don’t have a textbook leadership story. And that’s exactly what allows me to guide women through theirs.
I understand what it’s like to feel called to something bigger, yet held back by doubt, invisibility, or a model of leadership that doesn’t fit. I’ve walked through that fire—and now I help others do the same.

Now

Today, I help women learn to lead with confidence, clarity, and courage.

Because leadership is no longer about having all the answers or going it alone. It’s about rising into your own power, rooted in your unique leadership vision, and creating the conditions for others to rise with you.

If I had understood that sooner, I might’ve stepped up faster. Now I help women do just that.
